Join us on April 18th for a special presentation with author Kris Schaale, exploring the fascinating relationship between President James Buchanan and his beloved niece, Harriet Lane—America’s original First Lady. Discover the stories behind the summers they spent right here in Bedford and at the historic Bedford Springs Resort, a retreat that played an important role in their lives and in presidential history.

Schaale will share insights from her extensive research and discuss the inspiration behind her brand‑new novel, Summer of Meteors, a work based on Buchanan and Harriet Lane’s time in Bedford and their unique family bond.

 

Following the program, Kris will be available to sell and sign copies of Summer of Meteors
