21st-CENTURY PROGRAM

We are delighted to be participants with the centers that provide academic, artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities for students and their families. These opportunities occur during non-school hours or periods when school is not in session.

FORTNIGHT

Every 14 days we will have an interactive event from crafts to demonstrations related to Bedford County history. Kids will enjoy the hands-on crafts of begotten times, play games of yesteryear, learn how things were made with demos and presentations. Events will be posted only on Facebook.

SUMMER CAMP WEEK

We are teaming with archeology students and teachers from Juniata College for the 2018 Summer Camps. We have two sessions scheduled on July 19-23 and July 26-30 (Tues-Sat), from 10AM to 3PM. Cost is $125 per week. Students are to bring a brown bag lunch and dress for outside field work. Space is limited. Call for details and registration form.

2018 SUMMER CAMP

Archaeology at Fort Bedford Museum encourages curiosity with a hands-on and collaborative research into Bedford County’s past.

FIVE DAYS of CAMP BEDFORD MUSEUM

Following primary resources and maps, we will canvass Bedford in search of French and Indian War soldier camps, training grounds and the footprints of outlying stockades from centuries ago.

SEE BEDFORD LIKE YOU NEVER DID BEFORE!

Participants will enjoy using compasses and measuring tapes, shovel digging in the dirt, and screening the soil for pieces of history that were long abandoned and buried.

TOO COOL NOT TO PARTICIPATE

Juniata College hosts campers at in downtown Bedford. College students will be excavating and campers will screen for artifacts. This is a very intact and cool archaic site. Rain days will be in the Fort Bedford Museum, continuing the project, arts & crafts and playing games.

REGISTRATION

Please call Ms. Suzanne Trussell at the museum to register your child. Ms. Trussell will provide specific program details. Directions to sites will be provided once registration and payment are complete.
